2.5g Magic Mushroom Trip – What Happened?

2.5g Magic Mushroom Trip – What Happened?

Every once in a while, something happens in our community that stops me in my tracks. Not because it’s flashy or dramatic, but because it’s honest. Vulnerable. Brave.

This week, during one of our Patreon live meetings, a newer member of our family named William shared his experience with a 2.5 gram mushroom journey. What he shared was deeply personal, emotional, and profoundly human. It was the kind of sharing that reminds you why this work matters. Why we create safe spaces. Why healing so often begins when someone finally feels seen.

After the meeting, I asked William if he would be willing to record a few minutes about his experience so we could share it more broadly. He generously said yes, with the understanding that his privacy would be protected. That mattered to both of us. What happens inside our Patreon family stays there, and trust is everything. For this podcast and blog, his identity was intentionally protected.

What follows isn’t theory. It isn’t hype. It’s one person’s lived experience, shared with humility and courage.

And there is so much we can learn from it.

Why William Chose a Larger Dose

William has lived with severe complex PTSD, along with deep emotional and mental wounds rooted in childhood. He described carrying an awful self image for much of his life. That kind of pain doesn’t usually announce itself loudly. It settles in quietly. It shapes how you see yourself, how you react to the world, how safe you feel in your own body.

His intention going into this journey wasn’t to chase visuals or have some kind of recreational experience. His intention was simple and honest. He wanted to be open to whatever arose. Whatever the universe, or his own inner world, needed to reveal.

That openness matters. Intention matters.

The Physical and Emotional Experience

William described feeling lightheaded for the first hour or so. Once things stabilized, he noticed mild visuals. Objects subtly shifting, gently morphing. Nothing overwhelming.

But the most powerful part of his experience had nothing to do with visuals.

That first night, he said, things buried deep within his psyche began to surface. Not just mentally, but physically. He described it as watching himself from the outside, like an observer. Tears flowed freely. Not polite tears. Not quiet tears. The kind that feel like they’ve been waiting years for permission.

He said the crying was so intense he could have soaked the shirt he was wearing.

And yet, instead of fear, there was relief.

Cleansing. Purifying.

So much weight came up. And then, slowly, it began to lift.

The Second Night and a Sense of Love

What surprised William was how safe the experience felt. Safe enough that he chose to sit with it again the following night.

This time, he described something even deeper. A sense that lifetimes of emotional weight were being released. A feeling of unconditional love and compassion flowing through him. Not forced. Not imagined. Something he could only describe as divine.

One of the most meaningful shifts he noticed was the quieting of his nervous system. That constant fight or flight response so many people with trauma live with began to soften. Triggers didn’t disappear, but they no longer strangled him. He could observe them from a calmer, more grounded place.

That alone is life changing.

Connection, Intuition, and Presence

William spoke about feeling more connected to everything. A sense of unity rather than separation. His emotional awareness felt heightened, especially with animals and loved ones.

He described feeling more attuned to his cats. More aware of what his wife was experiencing emotionally. Not in a mystical or dramatic way, but in a grounded, intuitive way. Like the volume on empathy had been turned up.

This heightened intuition wasn’t something he described as overwhelming. It felt natural. Integrated.

And perhaps most importantly, he felt present.

For someone who had spent years living inside anxiety, trauma responses, and disconnection, presence itself was a gift.

Integration, Not Escape

One of the most important things William said was that the painful memories and emotions he had tried to push away for so long didn’t just resurface. They began to integrate.

That word matters.

Integration is where healing actually happens. Not bypassing. Not suppressing. Not escaping.

Integration.

He shared that symptoms he once identified with strongly, anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma responses, now felt more like memories than ongoing realities. Not erased, but no longer running the show.

Instead of feeling like a fragmented person with something missing, he described feeling whole.

Complete.

Human.

Macro Doses vs Microdosing

William was clear about something important. He appreciates larger doses for the depth of experience they can bring. But he was equally clear that microdosing has been incredibly valuable for him as well.

Macro doses are not something you bring into daily responsibilities. They require time, safety, intention, and integration.

Microdosing, on the other hand, allows people to live their lives. Go to work. Show up for family. Function fully while still experiencing emotional softening, increased compassion, and a calmer nervous system.

Both have their place. Neither is mandatory.

There is no one right path.

The Core Lesson

When William was asked what the biggest takeaway was, his answer was simple.

Be kind to yourself.

Be kind to others.

Be authentic.

We are all connected.

That’s not something he read in a book. It’s something he felt.

And that, in many ways, is what this medicine teaches over time. Not perfection. Not constant bliss. But perspective. Compassion. A wider view of what it means to be human.

Why Community Matters

After William shared his experience, what struck me just as deeply was the response from our Patreon family. The respect. The care. The lack of judgment. The space held for someone telling the truth.

This is why we protect that space so fiercely.

Our Patreon family isn’t about grabbing information and leaving. It’s about walking together. Learning together. Supporting each other through real life.

We meet live, often weekly now. We talk openly. We listen. We hold confidentiality. We grow.

No one walks alone here unless they choose to.

Starting With Yourself

I’ve been microdosing for over four and a half years now, and I can say with confidence that I am not the same person I once was. I am kinder. More patient. More connected. More aware of energy in people and animals. More present.

William’s story is powerful, but it isn’t unique. Healing doesn’t belong to a select few. It begins when someone decides they’re ready to stop running from themselves.

You don’t need a macro dose to begin that process. Microdosing works. I am living proof of that.

The place to start is always the same.

Start with yourself.

And when you’re ready, there’s a community here that will walk with you.
