I’m so glad you’re here with me today. This week, I’ve got something really special for you—an episode that is as powerful as it is inspiring. It’s a story of hope, healing, and the amazing potential of microdosing psilocybin. And if you’ve ever wondered if this healing journey could help you, or someone you care about, this episode might just give you the answer you’ve been looking for.
In this week’s podcast episode, titled “Brain Injury Survivor Turns to Psilocybin—And Finds Healing,” I share Katie’s remarkable journey. Now, I want to start by saying that this story is not just about psilocybin—it’s about resilience, about fighting through the darkest days, and about the healing power that exists when we allow ourselves to heal on all levels—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Katie’s story begins like many others: with a traumatic experience that forever alters the course of her life.
A Life Altered in an Instant
When Katie was just 17 years old, her life was changed forever. She survived a devastating car accident that flipped her vehicle three times. She was thrown through the front window, and the injuries she sustained were severe. She needed brain surgery, and everything shifted after that day.
For decades, Katie struggled. The aftermath of the accident wasn’t just physical—it affected her mental health deeply. She battled depression, low self-esteem, social anxiety, and a sense of isolation. The trauma of the accident never fully healed, and the consequences of that day haunted her for years. Katie even lost her sense of smell, a detail that might seem small but spoke volumes about the profound impact her brain injury had.
The Long Road to Healing
Over the years, Katie tried everything she could think of to heal: talk therapy, medications, and more. But nothing seemed to work the way she hoped. Like so many people, she felt frustrated and stuck, unable to move forward despite her best efforts.
Katie even tried ketamine therapy, which helped somewhat but brought along unwanted side effects like poor sleep and a feeling of being disconnected. She knew there had to be something more. Something deeper.
And then, by what seemed like fate, she stumbled upon Microdose U.
Now, I have to say a little bit about what we do at Microdose U. Our program doesn’t provide any medicine or sit with you during your journeys. We don’t provide you with the substances—you’re responsible for obtaining them in a safe and legal manner. What we do offer is a structured framework, a carefully designed plan, and one-on-one guidance to ensure that you’re microdosing safely, responsibly, and with intention.
Katie started her journey under our guidance, microdosing with psilocybin, following a personalized plan that was designed specifically for her. And this is where her story begins to take an incredible turn.
A Shift Like No Other
Almost immediately after starting her microdosing journey, Katie felt a shift. It wasn’t dramatic at first, but it was real. She was finally able to process the trauma from her accident that had haunted her for years. And as she began to heal emotionally, she noticed her world changing in ways that were hard to put into words.
She started to feel more focused. More motivated. Hope, which had been so elusive, began to find its way back into her life. She felt more connected to the people around her, more open to new experiences, and less anxious about the things that used to cause her distress.
But the real miracle? Her sense of smell returned. After years of being unable to smell, Katie woke up one day and realized it had come back. Now, I’m not a scientist, but I have to tell you that this is a profound sign of brain rewiring. It’s a true testament to how much healing was taking place inside her body and mind. Katie’s experience was real. It wasn’t a placebo effect. Her brain was healing, and her body was catching up.
Rewiring the Brain, One Dose at a Time
As Katie continued her microdosing journey, the changes she experienced kept stacking up. Stress, which used to overwhelm her, became much easier to manage. She started experiencing joy, playfulness, and connection—feelings she hadn’t experienced in decades. Imagine that: a woman who had lived with constant pain, mental fog, and a sense of emotional numbness now finding herself living a fuller, more connected life.
As I shared in the podcast, this isn’t just about “getting high”—it’s about healing. It’s about rewiring the brain and giving it the space it needs to reset, to repair, and to reconnect the dots in ways that were lost after trauma.
And let me tell you, it doesn’t stop with just psilocybin. Katie recently added LSD microdosing to her protocol, and that combination of psilocybin and LSD worked together beautifully. These two substances—when used responsibly and in the right doses—can complement each other in powerful ways. For Katie, the addition of LSD microdosing brought even greater clarity. Each day, she became more in touch with her own needs, her emotions, and her healing journey.
The Power of Showing Up Every Day
Katie didn’t just sit back and hope for a miracle to happen. She showed up every day, setting clear intentions and facing her physical and emotional pain head-on. She was dedicated to doing the work. And, as a result, she’s experienced profound healing.
I’m not saying this is easy—healing rarely is. But I can tell you this: Katie’s story is a perfect example of what’s possible when you commit to the process. When you show up for yourself every single day, even when it’s hard, there is real potential for change.
What You Can Learn from Katie’s Story
Katie’s story is one of true healing, and it’s one that many of you can relate to. Whether you’ve experienced trauma, mental health struggles, or simply feel like you’ve been stuck in the same cycle for too long, I want you to know that you’re not alone.
Microdosing isn’t a magic pill—it’s a tool. It’s a tool that can help you create the changes you need to heal, to grow, and to live a fuller, more present life. It’s not a shortcut, but when used with intention and in a safe, responsible manner, it has the potential to transform the way you live.
If you’re wondering if this could work for you, or if you’re struggling to find hope, I encourage you to listen to Katie’s story in this week’s podcast. I also want to remind you that we’re here to support you through this journey. Here are the questions and answers from this week’s episode, “Brain Injury Survivor Turns to Psilocybin—And Finds Healing,” :
1. Derek White2929 (YouTube):
Question: “Blimey, you’re really into tiny doses. Tiny, tiny.”
Answer:
I had to look up the word “blimey,” Derek, but yes, you’re absolutely right! The name of my channel, Micro Dose U, should make it pretty clear that I believe in tiny doses for healing. In fact, I’m a walking testament to the power of microdosing. Through these tiny doses, I’ve been able to address my own depression and anxiety, and I’ve seen the same benefits in many others who’ve followed the program and gone through the guidance. These tiny doses are not only effective, they’ve been life-changing for so many of us, myself included.
2. Mama Lisa (Contact Form from MicrodoseU Website):
Question: “Do you have any thoughts on microdosing for migraines?”
Answer:
Yes, Mama Lisa, I absolutely believe microdosing can help with migraines. While this isn’t medical advice, I want to share a personal story. I suffered from terrible migraines when I was younger. The pain would often be so bad that I had to lie in a dark room all day. I remember my mom giving me phenobarbital, which, to my surprise, ended up making the migraine go away, and I never had another one after that. The way I see it, psilocybin and microdosing can help rewire the brain in a similar way, potentially providing relief. However, if you’re dealing with chronic migraines, I’d recommend consulting your doctor first, but it’s something worth considering.
3. Matilda K4921:
Question: “Could microdosing increase the risk of developing schizophrenia?”
Answer:
Great question. My short answer is no, microdosing doesn’t typically increase the risk of developing schizophrenia. However, if you have a personal or family history of schizophrenia, it’s really important to approach microdosing with caution. There is a possibility that psychedelics could trigger symptoms or make existing ones worse, so in that case, I would highly suggest speaking with your doctor before starting. If you don’t have that history, there’s no reason to believe microdosing would cause schizophrenia to develop.
4. Rat Bastard H2U:
Question: “I took one gram of mushrooms for the first time and had a panic attack. The mushrooms told me I love to control things and people. I also wept on the floor and asked God for forgiveness. Is that normal?”
Answer:
Yes, I can totally understand why you might be concerned, but one gram is actually much more than a microdose. While it’s not a large dose, it’s enough to bring up intense emotions and even cause what some people refer to as a “bad trip.” However, I don’t believe in labeling these experiences as bad trips. The mushrooms are often referred to as teachers, and what you experienced was a lesson. It sounds like you were shown something important about yourself, and it’s up to you whether you choose to change what you learned. So, no, this is not abnormal at all—it’s actually a powerful part of the process.
5. Logic Choice:
Question: “Do I have ADHD?”
Answer:
While I’ve never been officially diagnosed with ADHD, I can definitely relate to the symptoms. My attention tends to jump all over the place, and I often find it hard to focus on one thing for long. I recognize this as ADD, and I suspect I might have some level of ADHD as well. But I see this as a blessing in disguise—being able to juggle many ideas at once and think creatively. I’ve never taken medication for ADD, and honestly, I think the creative mind it gives me is an asset. If you’ve got a similar experience, I wouldn’t be too hard on yourself—it’s just part of how our brains work, and I think it can be used to your advantage.
6. Roger A (via email):
Question: “Can microdosing change your personality?”
Answer:
Yes, I absolutely believe microdosing can lead to changes in your personality. For me, I’ve noticed that I’ve become more mindful before saying things that could be hurtful. I’ve become kinder and more patient, and I’ve learned to not let the small things bother me as much. These shifts have been subtle, but they’ve made a big difference in how I interact with others. So, yes—microdosing can help you become a more balanced, thoughtful version of yourself, without changing who you truly are at your core.
7. Beth L:
Question: “Can mushrooms help me distance myself from toxic people?”
Answer:
Absolutely. One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned from microdosing is that I am in control of the people I allow in my life. Since starting microdosing, I’ve distanced myself from people who don’t resonate with my energy or values. They may not be toxic per se, but I’ve learned that I don’t have to continue relationships with people who drain me or don’t support my growth. Microdosing helps you become more aware of who and what you truly need in your life. You don’t have to keep people around just because you always have. It’s all about surrounding yourself with positive energy that aligns with who you are becoming.
