Four Reasons Why People Will NEVER Microdose Mushrooms

Four Reasons Why People Will NEVER Microdose Mushrooms – And How to Overcome Them

Hey there, I’m Dr. Dave, and welcome back to another episode of Microdose U! Today, I’m addressing an issue I hear about often from people who are considering microdosing with psilocybin mushrooms but just can’t seem to take the leap. Despite all the benefits they’ve heard about, they don’t start, or they give up along the way. And it’s not because they don’t want to heal. It’s because there are reasons, deep-rooted fears and doubts, that stop them in their tracks.

After working with hundreds of people on their microdosing journeys and listening to countless others in our community, I’ve narrowed it down to four main reasons people will never get started with microdosing mushrooms—and more importantly, how to overcome them.

1. The Fear of Using a Psychedelic

I get it. When we hear the word “psychedelic,” it can instantly bring up images of people “tripping,” losing control, or feeling out of touch with reality. It’s something that’s often misunderstood. But here’s the truth: microdosing is not what you may have heard. It’s about tiny, controlled doses—far, far less than the amount someone would take for a “trip.”

For most people, microdosing isn’t about losing your sense of self or losing control. It’s about enhancing your everyday life, helping to manage things like anxiety, depression, or stress. It’s about feeling better—not high.

And the most important part is, you can still function. You can still live your day. I promise you, you won’t be “out of it.” In fact, it’s the exact opposite: you’ll feel clearer, more focused, and more grounded.

I understand the fear of trying something new, especially when it involves psychedelics. But I can assure you, if you take that first step, you’ll see how microdosing works without overwhelming you. It’s just about trusting the process. Trust that microdosing is safe, controlled, and will make a positive impact on your mental health.

Action Step: If you’re still uncertain, maybe it’s time to try it in a safe, controlled environment. Start small, with a low dose, and let it work its magic over time. Be kind to yourself and take it one step at a time.

2. Not Knowing Where to Find Mushrooms

One thing I hear constantly is that people just don’t know where to get mushrooms. And honestly, I don’t blame you—there’s a lot of misinformation out there, and no one wants to end up with something that could be dangerous.

Here’s the thing: I don’t talk about sourcing mushrooms publicly, for your safety and for legal reasons. But if you’re genuinely interested and you need some guidance, the best place I can point you toward is our Patreon community. By joining, you’ll not only get access to exclusive content and live sessions, but you may also learn more about how to source them responsibly.

But here’s the most important part: you don’t have to do this alone. We’re here to support each other, share experiences, and ensure everyone stays safe on their journey.

Action Step: Join our Patreon community to learn more about sourcing and get access to a network that supports your personal journey with psilocybin.

3. The Fear of Breaking the Law

In most places, psilocybin mushrooms are still illegal. That’s a fact, and I get why that stops a lot of people from taking the leap. No one wants to deal with legal repercussions, and I fully support that concern. But let me ask you this: how many of us have broken laws without thinking twice? Maybe it’s speeding on the highway or parking in a no-parking zone.

Does that make those laws right? Maybe not. But when you’re talking about something that can have such a huge impact on your well-being, your mental health, and your life, I believe it’s worth weighing your options.

Again, I’m not advocating for breaking laws. I’m simply inviting you to think about what really matters: your health. If microdosing could offer a better way to manage your mental health, and if you can do it safely in your area, I truly believe it’s worth considering. As always, I recommend that you only use psychedelics where it’s legally allowed, decriminalized, or permitted by law.

Action Step: Do your research, and if it’s legal where you are—or if you’re willing to take a safe, informed step—consider microdosing as a path to mental well-being.

4. The Stigma Around Psychedelics

Perhaps the most common reason people don’t start microdosing is the stigma. We’ve all heard it: psychedelics are “drugs,” and “drugs” are bad. But why is there so much stigma attached to substances like psilocybin mushrooms when other substances—alcohol, for instance—don’t get the same scrutiny, even though they are far more damaging?

It’s not fair, and it’s not based on the truth. Magic mushrooms have been used for thousands of years, with centuries of cultural and therapeutic history. And yet, they are still wrongly associated with hard, dangerous drugs. This is a big reason why so many people are hesitant.

The stigma also comes from fear—the fear that using psychedelics will somehow label you, change how people see you. But here’s the thing: the people I’ve met through microdosing are some of the most open-minded, kind, and compassionate people I’ve ever encountered. It’s about healing, not about “partying” or escaping. It’s about bettering yourself, becoming more present, and achieving balance in your life.

Action Step: Shift your perspective—don’t let stigma hold you back from something that could change your life for the better. It’s time to break free from the old narratives and embrace the transformative potential of psychedelics.

Final Thoughts

There’s no magic pill. There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. But if you’ve been considering microdosing, I encourage you to face your fears, challenge the stigma, and commit to your own personal growth. If you’re stuck, know that you’re not alone. I offer personalized, professional one-on-one guidance to help you see if the medicine is working or to provide support for first-time and seasoned microdosers. I’ve been there and so have many others who’ve taken that leap and never looked back.

Remember, microdosing is a tool. It’s a tool to help you feel better, think clearer, and be more present. It’s not a shortcut, but it can be a profound part of your healing journey. If you’re ready, we’re here to guide you every step of the way.
