Gummy vs Pills – Which Always Wins?
Hey friends! Today, I want to talk about something that might open a few eyes and even change some perspectives for those of you who might feel stuck. It’s a simple question: what’s better, a gummy or a pill?
Now, before your mind starts racing to candy vs. vitamins, let me clarify—I’m not talking about a sweet treat. I’m talking about magic mushroom gummies vs. pharmaceutical antidepressants. Psilocybin vs. SSRIs. The earth vs. the pharmacy.
Let’s talk about it, shall we?
The Pharmaceutical Way: Pills, Pills, Pills
For years, I believed pharmaceuticals were the way to go. You’re depressed? Take this pill. Anxious? Take that pill. Having trouble sleeping? You guessed it—here’s a pill. As a dentist and someone trained in the medical system, I trusted what I was taught. Pills were the answer. They were quick, easy, and efficient. Or so I thought.
At first, some of these pills may seem to help. But over time, something happens. You might not feel sad anymore, but do you feel alive? Really alive? You become a shadow of yourself—flat, foggy, and functioning but not thriving. And that’s the problem with relying solely on pharmaceuticals. They may help mask the symptoms, but they don’t truly help you heal.
And don’t get me wrong—pharmaceuticals can be a lifesaver when you’re in crisis. They’re like a life raft that keeps you afloat when you’re drowning. But what if we could explore another way? A better way? A way that doesn’t just help you cope but allows you to truly heal?
Enter Psilocybin: A Different Path
That’s where psilocybin comes in. Now, let’s be clear—I’m not talking about wild trips or festival-style adventures. I’m talking about small, intentional, controlled doses. Microdosing.
For those of you who are here already, you know what I’m talking about. Microdosing psilocybin, whether in the form of a gummy, chocolate, tea, or even a capsule, is something that many of us are starting to use intentionally to reconnect with ourselves. And it’s working wonders.
It’s not about escaping your feelings or “zoning out.” It’s about tuning in. It’s about being present with yourself, allowing your emotions to surface, and experiencing them fully.
For me, it’s been a practice of reconnecting with my joy, my sadness (yes, sadness can be healthy), and everything in between. It’s about being alive again. Not numb, not flat, but truly alive.
And for the first time in a long time, I felt like I was truly feeling. Not just existing, but actually living.
The Gummy or the Pill? A Clear Winner
Let’s compare these two paths:
Pharmaceutical Pills (like SSRIs)
- They can mute your emotional range.
- They may disrupt sleep, libido, and digestion.
- They often lead to a sense of emotional numbness.
- They require long tapering if you want to get off them.
- And sometimes, they leave you questioning, “Is this all there is?”
Magic Mushroom Gummies (Psilocybin Microdoses)
- Encourage introspection, clarity, and emotional awareness.
- They don’t flatten your spirit; they amplify your intuition.
- They are not physically addictive and can be part of a spiritual and emotional toolkit.
- Unlike SSRIs, they don’t dull you—they open you.
- They are taken intentionally, with care, and with respect.
It’s clear, right? The gummy wins. When used intentionally, psilocybin doesn’t numb you. It opens you up, making you more present, more aware, and more connected to your emotions and the world around you.
And the best part? You don’t have to worry about dependency. Unlike pharmaceuticals, psilocybin (when used intentionally and responsibly) doesn’t become a crutch—it becomes a tool for healing and growth.
What If Pills Aren’t the Only Answer?
Now, I’m not here to tell you that you must ditch your prescriptions. If you’re on SSRIs or any other medication, I understand that it’s not something you can just stop without professional guidance. That’s not what I’m advocating for. Always consult with your doctor before making any changes to your medication regimen.
But what I do want to encourage you to do is ask yourself: what if there’s another way? What if healing doesn’t have to come from a plastic bottle with a childproof cap? What if it could come from something more natural, more connected to the earth?
You’re not broken. You don’t have to rely on pills forever.
A New Path: Microdosing with Psilocybin
For me, microdosing psilocybin has been a game-changer. It’s opened up a whole new way of being and feeling. And it’s not just me—many people I’ve worked with have found that microdosing can help them feel more present, more connected, and more in tune with themselves.
But let’s be transparent: psilocybin, like anything else, is a sacred tool. It’s not something to take lightly. There are risks, and it’s important to approach it with intention and respect. When done right, however, the transformation can be profound.
And if you’ve been handed a prescription and told that pills are your only option, I want you to know—you’re not alone. There are other paths, other ways to heal. Healing doesn’t have to come from a pill bottle. It can come from a gummy, a chocolate, or a capsule filled with something ancient, something powerful.
Your Healing Journey
If you’re ready to explore this path, know that you’re not alone. I’ve been there, and so have many others. Healing is personal, and I’m here to walk with you on your journey. If you ever feel like you need extra guidance, I offer one-on-one coaching, where we can explore this path together.
I’ve personally walked away from my SSRIs over four years ago, and there’s no turning back for me. Microdosing psilocybin has changed my life, and it’s changed the lives of many people I’ve worked with.
If you’re curious, I invite you to take the first step. Maybe a gummy is the answer for you. Maybe it’s the beginning of a whole new chapter in your healing journey.
As always, stay curious, stay open, and keep walking the healing path—one microdose at a time.
Questions from the Mailbag
Before I wrap up, let’s take a look at a couple of questions from the mailbag:
- Lounge Wizard asked, “If a microdose is 100-200 milligrams and a full trip is 1 gram, then what is 500 milligrams? Is that kind of a no-man’s land dose?”
Great question! 500 milligrams is often considered a “museum dose.” It’s not quite a full trip, but it’s not just a microdose either. It can enhance your awareness, making you more attuned to your surroundings. Colors become sharper, and you notice things that you might’ve overlooked before. It’s a great dose for those who want to feel a little more alive without going over the top.
- Gabby Girl asked, “I’ve been taking 300 milligrams of p$nis envy mushrooms and haven’t seen any improvement. Should I try a higher dose?”
Gabby, I’m sorry to hear that you haven’t had the results you were hoping for. 300 milligrams is a little bit higher than most microdoses, but it’s not uncommon for some people to need more or less depending on the strain and their own body chemistry. My suggestion is to experiment a bit—maybe try a different strain, a different dose, and pay attention to how you’re feeling. And if you ever feel like you need some guidance, don’t hesitate to reach out.
