Today, I’m sharing a personal experience that feels a little surreal to me. It’s something I never thought I’d say, but here it is: I just took LSD. Yes, you read that correctly.

Now, I know what you might be thinking. This isn’t exactly something that you expect to hear from someone who’s been talking about microdosing psilocybin for 4 years. But trust me, this is an important part of my journey, and I’m excited to share it with you, especially because I’ve got some valuable insights to unpack.

Why Did I Try LSD?

I’ll be honest. I had no intention of trying LSD for most of my life. Growing up in the late ’60s and early ’70s, when the counterculture was in full swing, LSD was everywhere. Whether it was artists, musicians, or just regular people, it seemed like everyone was experimenting. And yet, I stayed away. I was a “straight-laced” guy, and the idea of using such a powerful substance always felt a little too mysterious and potentially dangerous for me.

Fast forward to today, and my experience with microdosing psilocybin for mental health, specifically for anxiety, depression, and PTSD, has completely transformed my life. For almost four years, I’ve used microdosing to clear away the fog, and it’s done wonders for my emotional well-being. But as I’ve been on this journey, I’ve also felt curious. How does LSD compare? What’s the difference between microdosing psilocybin and LSD?

It was this curiosity that led me to try LSD for the first time. And I’m glad I did.

What Was It Like to Microdose LSD?

Let me start by saying that I wasn’t doing anything extreme. This was a microdose: a tiny dose that you can barely feel, but enough to have a subtle impact. In the case of LSD, I was taking between 8 to 16 micrograms, which is a really small amount.

At first, I was just curious about the differences between LSD and psilocybin. I had heard a lot about the powerful effects of LSD, but I didn’t know what to expect. When I tried it, I immediately noticed something: it was smoother.

That’s the best word I can come up with to describe it. The whole experience was milder, less intense compared to mushrooms, but still incredibly positive.

One thing I noticed is that the feeling lasted longer. When I microdosed with LSD in the morning, I could feel the effects well into the afternoon. I didn’t feel “high” or impaired in any way. I was still 100% functional. But I was more present, calm, and focused. There was a smoothness that stuck with me throughout the day.

A Positive, Grounded Experience

When I first started talking about microdosing psilocybin, I used to say you shouldn’t feel anything. But after my experience with LSD, I don’t think that’s entirely accurate anymore. What I’ve learned is that you should feel something, but it’s not a feeling of being “high.” It’s a feeling of presence, of clarity, and a sense of peace.

That’s exactly how I felt with LSD. I could tell it was there. And it wasn’t just about the experience that day, it was about how I felt the next day. I had a long drive ahead of me, and I was honestly amazed by how calm and confident I felt. Zero anxiety, just pure, grounded confidence. It was an incredible feeling.

Combining LSD with Acupuncture: A Beautiful Experiment

Now, here’s where things got even more interesting. I’ve been doing acupuncture to help with physical pain and stress, and I thought, “Why not combine this with LSD?” So, during my acupuncture session, I took a microdose of LSD before I went in.

I have to tell you, it was an absolutely beautiful experience. The acupuncture felt different. I was deeply relaxed, and it felt like the entire process was just flowing—the needles, the music, the overall experience. I’ve had acupuncture sessions before, but this time was something special. I’ll call it my “best acupuncture trip” ever. The LSD definitely enhanced my receptiveness, making me feel more open and connected to the healing process.

Again, it wasn’t about being “high” or anything like that. I wasn’t out of it. I was fully functional, able to drive home with no issues. But the experience was just more vivid, more grounded, and much more relaxing.

Microdosing LSD: A Catalyst for Creativity?

Another fascinating moment happened while I was taking my Japanese lessons. I’ve been learning Japanese via Zoom with a teacher in Japan, and we’ve had some really good sessions. But this one was different. She told me that I sounded “more like a native speaker” in our lesson.

Now, I’ve got a long way to go before I’m conversational, but hearing that feedback was fascinating. Was it the LSD? Maybe. I’ve heard that LSD can open up creativity, and it seems like it might have done just that. I felt like my mind was working differently, more fluidly, and I could express myself better…even in a second language.

It’s similar to the creative breakthroughs artists and musicians experienced during the ’60s, especially with LSD. Think about the Beatles, for example. When they started experimenting with LSD, their music and creativity reached entirely new levels. Whether it’s an artistic or personal breakthrough, LSD seems to have a unique way of unlocking a new level of creativity and perspective.

What’s the Future of Microdosing LSD for Me?

So, where does this leave me? Will I continue microdosing LSD? Honestly, I’m not sure yet. I’m still in the early stages of experimenting with it, and I don’t have all the answers. But I will say this: my experience so far has been extremely positive. It feels like a smoother, more grounded experience than psilocybin, and I can see it playing a useful role in my life.

That being said, I’ll definitely continue microdosing psilocybin as well. After all, I’ve been doing it for almost four years, and it’s been life-changing. But for now, I’m in this fascinating “era” of microdosing LSD, and it feels promising.

The Bigger Picture: Responsibility and Safety

As I reflect on all of this, it’s clear to me that psychedelics, when used responsibly, are some of the safest and most beneficial substances we can use. I’ve heard all the warnings and concerns, especially about LSD, but I can honestly say that I feel safe when using these substances in controlled, microdosing amounts. They’ve helped me in more ways than I can count, from healing my mental health to boosting my creativity to improving my physical health through acupuncture.

But, like anything, they need to be used responsibly. The dangers of psychedelics only come into play when they’re misused, taken irresponsibly, or used in unsafe environments. When you approach them with respect and care, they can be an incredible tool for personal growth, healing, and creativity.

What’s Next?

I’m excited to keep exploring this combination of LSD and acupuncture. I’ll keep you updated on how my journey unfolds. For now, I’m grateful for the insights I’ve gained and the positive impact it’s already had on my life.
