This Changes Everything

Sometimes, all it takes is one experience to change everything. I’ve been on this journey of self-discovery and growth for years, and it’s brought me to moments that truly reshaped how I see the world, myself, and others. Today, I’m sharing one of those pivotal ideas—one that could also transform your life if you’re ready to embrace it.

Recently, I was thinking about the impact of taking a solo trip—not just a vacation, but an intentional journey to explore your thoughts, your emotions, and your goals. For me, these trips aren’t about escape; they’re about going deeper into life. I’ve shared before how I’ve used these opportunities to sit with a journal, reflect, and connect with myself in a way that’s difficult to do amidst daily noise.

These experiences aren’t just cathartic—they’re illuminating.

As many of you know, I’m a lifelong fan of the Grateful Dead and their various offshoots, like Dead & Company. Their music has always been a soundtrack for reflection, and attending their concerts has become a kind of ritual for me. I recently had an idea that I’m excited to share: what if we turned one of these shows into a shared experience? Not just a concert, but an opportunity for introspection and connection with like-minded individuals.

The Spring 2025 Plan

Here’s the idea: Dead & Company will be performing at the Sphere in Las Vegas in spring 2025. If you haven’t heard of the Sphere yet, let me tell you—it’s not just a venue; it’s an experience. The immersive visuals and sound are unlike anything I’ve ever encountered. It’s the kind of place that makes you feel like you’re part of the performance, not just an audience member. It’s surreal, moving, and the perfect setting for a transformative evening.

So here’s what I’m thinking: what if we made one of these concerts a chance to meet in person? We could gather before the show for an informal meetup, share some thoughts, maybe even grab a meal. Then, we’d head into the show and let the music, the atmosphere, and—if you choose—plant medicine, guide us into a deeper connection with ourselves and each other.

Why This Matters

Some of the most meaningful realizations in my life have come during moments of solitude and self-reflection. Years ago, I attended a concert alone, arriving hours early with my journal. The time I spent sitting quietly, absorbing the energy of the venue, and letting my thoughts flow freely led to breakthroughs I’ll never forget. I left that experience not just entertained but transformed.

We live in a world that rarely encourages us to pause and reflect. Our schedules are packed, our minds are distracted, and our hearts are often weighed down by unprocessed emotions. That’s why I’m inviting you to consider this opportunity—a chance to step out of your routine and into a space where you can truly think, feel, and grow.

The Power of Plant Medicine

If you’ve been following my journey, you know that microdosing has played a significant role in my mental health and personal growth. It’s not just about alleviating depression or anxiety (though it’s been incredible for that); it’s about rewiring the way I see the world and myself. Plant medicine has helped me approach life with more clarity, gratitude, and compassion. It’s a tool, not a crutch, and when combined with intentional practices like journaling or attending transformative events, its effects are amplified.

At the same time, this isn’t about relying on medicine alone. The real magic happens when you combine these tools with deep reflection and a willingness to face your truths. That’s why an event like this could be so powerful. Imagine stepping into a space designed to open your mind and heart—and leaving with insights that could change your life forever.

What Could This Look Like?

To be clear, this isn’t about creating a formal retreat. It’s about meeting as fellow travelers on the journey of life, sharing an evening of music and connection, and then taking those experiences back into our individual lives. Here’s how I envision it:

  1. A Pre-Show Meetup: We gather at a relaxed venue for some food and conversation. It’s a chance to connect, share stories, and set intentions for the evening.
  2. The Concert: Whether you’re a longtime Deadhead or completely new to the music, the Sphere is a place that defies description. It’s immersive, inspiring, and the perfect setting for introspection.
  3. Reflection Time: After the show, you’ll have the opportunity to process what you’ve experienced. Whether it’s through journaling, meditation, or simply sitting with your thoughts, this is where the real work happens.

The Importance of Going Solo (Even in a Group)

One thing I’ve learned is that even in shared experiences, the most profound growth often happens individually. You don’t need to participate in every group activity or feel obligated to socialize the whole time. The beauty of this idea is that it’s flexible. You can engage as much or as little as you like, tailoring the experience to your own needs.

Lessons from the Past

This isn’t the first time I’ve thrown out an idea like this. Years ago, during a different phase of my life, I invited followers to join me for a unique event: Bay to Breakers in San Francisco. It’s a wild, costume-filled race that’s more about fun than competition. A small group joined, including someone who flew all the way from Australia. The connections we made and the memories we created were unforgettable. That experience taught me that sometimes, the most meaningful encounters happen when you take a chance and say yes to something new.

Why Now?

I believe we’re at a point in history where we’re being called to look inward more than ever. The world is chaotic, and it’s easy to get swept up in the noise. But in that chaos lies an opportunity—a chance to reconnect with what truly matters. This event isn’t just about music or plant medicine; it’s about creating a space where you can hear yourself think, feel, and grow.

An Invitation

If this resonates with you, I’d love to hear your thoughts. Is this something you’d be interested in? Would you take a chance on an experience that could change how you see yourself and the world? Let me know. This idea is still in its infancy, and your feedback will help shape what it becomes.

Whatever you decide, I encourage you to carve out time for yourself—whether it’s at an event like this or simply in the quiet of your own home. Sit with your thoughts, ask yourself the big questions, and don’t be afraid to explore the answers. You might be surprised at what you discover.

Final Thoughts

Life is short, and opportunities like this don’t come around often. Whether or not this particular event speaks to you, I hope it inspires you to seek out experiences that challenge and transform you. Remember, the greatest changes often come from within.
